Step 1: Dialogue Transcribed:
Dialogue here is changed into a written text, which is then set in a bilingual format. This will allow the translator to enter the translation opposite pre-determined and well-defined portions of the source text.
Step 2: Paraphrasing and Summarizing:
Text is then paraphrased, summarized and divided into small parts reflecting the general flow of the dialogue. The original flow of the dialogue must be maintained. Translated text may have to be paraphrased or summarized to fit within the time constraint.
STEP 3: Proofreading
Translation is then proofread to ensure it is error free and consistent with the social and cultural spirit of the original text.
STEP 4: Encoding
Translated text is then encoded by a subtitling expert who will ensure that the text is read comfortably by the viewer within the time allocated to each part.
STEP 5: Quality Assurance
Upon completion of subtitling, the video is viewed several times to ensure that the translation runs with the flow of the original dialogue. Necessary adjustments can be made.
